Story
Get to Know Us
7909 Charities, Inc. was established by six individuals with the goal of helping those in need in the Kansas City metropolitan area. They met through their membership in a national men's group with the chapter ID code 7909, which also had charitable ambitions. However, they realized that the scope and funding available through their group were limited. The number 7909 represents the various individuals in Kansas City who are in need, whether they are homeless, in need of permanent housing, require shelter during the winter, or aspire to pursue higher education or vocational training. While it may not be possible to help everyone, doing nothing is not an option.
Funding
7909 Charities will also directly manage the solicitation, vetting, and awarding of scholarships on a merit basis for college education and vocational training. Initially, we aim to provide five scholarships of $1,000 each. Donations obtained from external sources will fund these scholarships and also cover the costs of recruiting volunteers. Additionally, these donations will address the immediate needs of the aforementioned organizations through monetary or merchandise contributions.
Our primary source of funding will be an annual golf tournament called The Mission-For-Good (MFG). As we continue to grow, we are also considering other fundraising options, such as a Gala Dinner, Online Auction, and Online Raffle. We will actively seek ongoing direct contributions in cash or merchandise from donors.
Our Mission
7909 Charities Inc. was born with the idea of helping people under 4 Core Areas:
1. Providing essential items like food, water, clothing, and hygiene products directly to unhoused individuals in camps.
2. Increasing the availability of affordable permanent housing units.
3. Assisting those with immediate shelter needs during the winter.
4. Offering support to those pursuing a college education or vocational training, which can lead to self-sufficiency.
